DIY Design: Stella’s Bedroom

I really never understood people’s fascination with home decor and design. I scoffed at the prices people would pay for hip furniture. I rolled my eyes at my mother’s love for Home Sense. But I am now “in the club.” And let me tell you … it’s fun!

Since we bought our new home, I’ve spent every free minute dreaming of ways to decorate it. I just love it and I just love dressing it up (let’s face it, it is way more fun than trying to dress myself in a pair of jeans!). But just because I am dreaming of it, doesn’t mean I am out buying it. It’s going to be a slow process. Hubby and I are short on time, and will be squeezing in house stuff when we can. But if it’s okay with you, I’ll share bits and pieces here.

Now, in our old home, I really did nothing in the way of design, decor, whatever you want to call it. I did make a valiant attempt to do up Stella’s room in Pokemon theme though once we returned from our year in Australia. That room is now behind us, and we are working on her new room. Check it out:

Source details: comforter from Ikea, Owl canvases from Pier One (which were bought for my home office, but looked too perfect not to hang here), handmade quilt from Grandma R, blue sheers from Bouclair Home, blue paint was already on the walls, green paint is Pear Green by Benjamin Moore picked with the help from my good friend Special K.
