It’s Monday. Let’s do a Giveaway, Shall We? Create A Blurb Photo Book!

Easy-to-Use Templates with Blurb.

I suspect that many of you are like me … with their children’s photos sitting around as electronic files on a variety of devices — phones, tablets, laptops. Digital photography has its reams of benefits, but it makes me cringe just thinking about all the unorganized photos I have hidden in every electronic device I own.

Capturing Memories in Print.

I used to do a lot of scrapbooking. But haven’t done any really since Max was born back in 2008. So I’ve been strongly considering accepting my failure as a scrapbooker and moving to photo books. I have some friends who’ve created photobooks as wedding albums and still others who do one annually to gather the special memories of the year. I’ve always been impressed with the quality but intimidated by (a) actually figuring out how to use the software, and (b) actually finding the photos and getting them in a semblance of order.

Capture Family Recipes.

So here’s the challenge: I will create a photobook if you do too!

Remembering the Past.

So let’s do it! So many ideas … from scanning old family photos for generations to come to creating memory books for your kids to have when they have families of their own …

Blurb has generously offered me a $50 coupon towards a photo book purchase as well as one for one of you too. Let’s try it out and make sure our memories don’t die with our hard drive!

So what is Blurb? Blurb is a creative publishing platform that lets users can create their own high quality print/ebooks via Blurb’s free online and downloadable bookmaking tools. And I, for one, am looking forward to trying it out!

To enter:

  • Visit the Blurb website and then come back and leave a comment below for me letting me know what kind of book you’d like to create.
  • I will pick a winner from random draw next Monday and announce the winner by 6pm here on the blog.

What you will win:

  • A CAD $50 discount will be applied toward your product total. Valid for printed books only. Offer valid through December 31, 2012.

Good luck!

Although I like the idea of a family cook book I know I need to focus on family ones. I have so so many photos sitting around (actual photos from my 11yo through to tons of digital for my younger two). I need to do this. I was thinking one book per child :)

  2. LilyRileygran says:

My children have been asking for a family cook book. Just think of the new memories they can make with their families. I need to back at gathering those recipes.

A wedding book.  We’ve been married for 4 years and only have the digital photos.  It would be great to have all the best photos captured.   I’ve been thinking of doing it and always seems to get forgotten :)  This will be the extra push I need to get it done!

  4. my husband has been making photo books about our kids every year for the past 7 yrs. I’d love to learn how to do them myself. Although I really like the cookbook idea!

  5. Lara Wellman says:

ooh – a facebook photo book!

  6. I’ve been meaning to do a photobook of my girls covering the first few years. This would be a fabulous prize

  7. I would do one of two or both: update the family cookbook with photos and scanned recipes from the lamiated word version from a few years ago.  Or I would make a book for my parents 50th wedding anniversary with photos from the past 50 years.

  8. I love these! I would probably create a book about my son’s first year, although I also saw Blurb’s ideas for customized notebooks and thought that was pretty neat. Great give-away, and the software looks pretty straightforward.

    I’m in… I’ll make a Summer @ Cottage Book

  10. Okay, here is my secret shame: I started a Blurb book with BookSmart about four years ago, and…yeah. Never finished. The sad thing is that it is up to like, 100 pages long, with text and photos and everything, hours of work, and I just, ugh, got bogged down in life. GAH.

So a $50 push in the right direction would hopefully be enough for me to get ‘er done. The book is of my blog, by the way – all my favourite blog posts, going back 8 years now, with photos of my kids to highlight the posts that are about them. AW.

  11. Gah! Looks like my comment was eaten by the ether. It was a good one, too. I’ll summarize: started a Blurb book years back, life yadda yadda yadda, never finished, now need a push to finish :). My book is of my favourite blog posts with photos of my kids interspersed. AW.

  12. I would probably go with an Oliver 365 book! Love making yearbooks every January.

  13. I would make a yearly picture book for my girls!

  14. All of the books are so pretty.  I’d make a yearbook for Henry, our poor neglected third child.   I love the cookbooks too!!!!

  15. I would make a family photo book!

  16. I would like to make a wedding book, although I am tempted to make a mom’s advice book for my kids, a la Phil Dunphy from Modern Family…

I have this goal of doing an annual family yearbook with all of the photos that I take.  So far, I haven’t managed to finish one.  But I am working on a blog-to-book on Blurb, using the the blog that I kept when my newborn son was quite ill.  I want him to have it as a memento when he’s older.

  18. I want to make a blurb book of my blog posts and photos from our year in India – so I guess that counts as a photo book?  (it doesn’t really fit into any category). A GC would help a TONNE – I need to print three copies (one for each lil and one nice one for us!)

  19. Glad to hear you had a good time at Blissdom (I was at ShesConnected). Found your website due to your post on vlogs. New follower on Twitter (https://twitter.com/zoojourneys).

Thanks for the giveaway, I’d like the notebook.

Hey Julie! I’ve been dying to try theBlurb books as I too have not been scrapbooking. I always make a calendar for my mom so I would try their photo weekly planners.

  21. eisangel3 says:

I love blurb books! Their 12 inch photo book is my favourite

  22. I would love to make a family photobook for my parents’ Christmas present.  With 30 people in my immediate family it would get filled up very quickly!

  23. We LOVE Blurb.  We have used several different photo book sites and Blurb is our favorite.  We make at least one big family book a year.  Photo books are so much more useful and actually get looked at regularly instead of big clunky photo albums.  We usually do hard cover with the picture printed right on the cover in landscape style.

  24. What happened to all the comments? I posted one last week.

    • Hi Jhoanna … I am moving back to my old commenting system since Livefyre gave so many readers, so many headaches. But it takes a while for the system to archive and re-post them to the new system. They will be back up soon! Promise!
