I was working late, so I put a call into home to see how everyone was doing. My daughter’s first words were: “A huge package arrived!” (My son’s next words were: “Is it for me?”) I asked Stella to check the label and see who had sent it. When she told me it was from Posterjack, I too felt excited and couldn’t wait to get home!
Remember this family photo that I loved so much, taken by local photographer Sarah McCormack? I had told her that I loved it so much that perhaps I should have it blown up and mounted on an art canvas. Some of my girlfriends had done similar things in their home, with great results — including Sarah herself. She thought it was a fabulous idea, so I then asked her what company she had used and she was emphatic that she loved Posterjack.
So I told Sarah I would get in touch with this company. I imagined a really huge piece (since we have some really huge spaces in our home that could use some art). And then, of course, I let it drop to the bottom of my to-do list, like the house usually does. However, Sarah reminded me and gave me a little push (kick in the pants?!) to go and place the order. And I did.
The kids were really happy that I did. See how much fun it brought them?
But me? I wasn’t prepared for how emotional I would feel. As soon as I saw this art canvas, I gasped a little and then my eyes immediately began to well up. To see my own family captured so beautifully. Our home is full of art, but this … this is just so different.
This photo certainly doesn’t do it justice. But trust me, it’s gorgeously reproduced and stretched carefully onto a huge (32 x 48) canvas. I chose the largest canvas size available! The cost for this size canvas is $249, and Posterjack does not charge shipping on any orders over $150. So, all in all, this canvas is actually the same or less than what I would pay if I chose an art reproduction from a store like HomeSense. And definitely far less than I’d pay for original artwork like “My Bicycle.”
My next challenge is to select where to hang my new favourite piece of art! I can’t decide yet … but maybe hung in the spot shown in the photo above, with a small console table underneath? There is also a spot in the dining room that might work, and one in the tv room too … choices, choices! Or maybe our master bedroom …
Disclosure: I was provided with this product at no charge to me. Posterjack is a Canadian company and you can learn more about them here.
So happy to see this today (needed something cheerful) and I’m so happy that Poster Jack came through for you!! I love the work they have done for me !! It looks awesome
make sure your tree doesn’t fall on it!
p.s if you Christmas tree falls, but no one is at home to hear, does it still make a sound??
Well, dear friend … interesting you should ask about the tree. Because our 12 foot tree DID fall! That is a whole other blog post …
Beautiful! What a great personal and sentimental “statement” piece. I feel like I need to get some pro photos done now. Been way too negligent on that!
I’m glad you like it Stephanie! It definitely does feel like a “statement” piece. Many of my friends have used their own photos (not professional ones) and they’ve turned out fabulous too … so don’t let that stop you!
I’ve been looking for a service just like this! Many thanks for the timely information, Julie.
Turning your beautiful family photo into wall art was a wonderful idea
If you get one made, you have to promise me to send the link!
Oh Julie. I hope you put it on that wall. It will look amazing! p.s I totally get the box thing, crayons on cardboard is always a hit on my house too!
Yes, this spot is really growing on me. If we put it here, you’d be able to see the canvas from the front hall. (The box has now been evenly cut into two and each child has a large sheet in their bedroom! :))
That looks amazing. You can clearly see the quality in the photo, I bet it out does itself in real life.
Oh, I’m so glad that you can see the quality even in a photograph!
What a beautiful picture of your family captured for you to enjoy for years to come! On an unrelated note, I see you also have a Pokemon fan in your household! Glad I’m not alone!
Oh, I have two very obsessed Pokemon lovers in this house! (When will it end ??? :))
Wow! Beautiful! How nice to preserve and cherish your fave pics. I love this idea. I bet it will look fabulous up
I’m so excited to get it up! (Yet another “honey-do” project for the holidays – ha!)
oh my gosh, I love how huge it is! it really makes a statement! gorgeous!
Yes, I really wanted it to be huge … to represent the forest well. Glad you like it!
I’ve done a similar thing with a picture of my daughter in the winter, but regret not getting it done larger. I love how big your is – beautiful! I may just have to get mine done again, only larger.
Ah, yes … there’s always next time! Or get your next one done really big and do a collage of winter photos – wouldn’t that be beautiful?!
