As a kid, I loved back-to-school shopping sooo much. (Okay, I loved shopping with my Mom in general, but back-to-school meant I was guaranteed to get some goodies!) Picking out new outfits, cute shoes, and getting excited for the year ahead. Yep, I loved it all!
I tried to indoctrinate Stella into this consumerism blitz, but to no avail. She really can’t stand shopping and has zero interest in fashion.
But, alas, fear not … this mother has a glimmer of shopping hope left! My son Max is heading into Grade One this year. He is quite excited. (Not really sure how grade one is different from kindergarten, but he feels it is important so I back him up on it.) Perhaps even better than his excitement is that he loves to shop! I am totally going to do a back-to-school shopping trip with him and it’s going to be at Sears.
Why? Because that’s where I used to do back-to-school shopping with my Mom! It’s a nostalgia thing. But it’s also a practical thing too because you can pick up quality brands at really reasonable prices.
One of my favourite brands on boys of all sizes is Levis. My husband is an almost-daily wearer of Blundstone boots, Levis jeans, and a cotton t-shirt. Both “boys” picked up brown Blundstone boots while we were in Australia, and now I’m keen to complete Max’s “just like Dad” look with some Levis for boys.
I expect that this kind of shopping trip might get a little hard on the wallet. Especially if you’re a parent with quite a number of children (or at least more than one who likes to shop!). That’s why I think it’s kinda fun that Sears is doing this “Surprise & Delight” goodness. The video below will let you know what it’s all about! ….
Beyond the families that will receive a fabulous surprise in their local Sears store, Sears has been supporting the Boys and Girls Club of Canada for more than 40 years. For this upcoming back-to-school season, Sears Canada and Converse have teamed up to provide this amazing charity with $10,000 worth of apparel.
And even better (well, I think so, at least š ) is that I will be able to give one lucky Coffee with Julie reader a gift certificate for $100 to Sears! What would you buy with $100? Here’s what I would pick out!
Okay, now it’s your chance to win what you would like for back-to-school. Up for grabs is a $100 gift certificate to Sears Canada. You can enter to win on more than one blog, but you can only win once (fair enough!). Other fine print: You must be 18 years of age and live in Canada (excluding QC). Good luck!
p.s. You must hurry! This is a quickie … enter today and draw ends at midnight on Wed, August 27th. Winner must respond to my emailĀ notificationĀ within 24 hours or a new winner will be drawn.Ā
Disclosure: I am part of the Sears Back to School Blogger Campaign with Mom Central Canada and I receive special perks as part of my affiliation with this group. The opinions on this blog are my own.Ā
