Monday morning inspiration

I thought you might find this little snippet from the Canadian Business Special Issue: Outlook 2011 inspiring as you begin your work week:

The country’s best-paid CEOs earned an average of $6.6 million in 2009, according to a new report from the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives. The average salary fell from $7.3 million in 2008, but is still far above the typical Canadian income of $42,9888.

And … wait for it ….

By 2:30 p.m. on the first working day of the year, the CEOs had already earned that amount.

Yep, you read that right. By 2:30 pm on the first day, a CEO had earned an average Canadian’s entire year’s salary.

(What? You didn’t know I had a cruel sense of humour … okay, now you do.)

  1. You know what? These guys live in huge mansions with astounding kitchens and…never spend time there. Nor do they cook in their well-stocked, airy, beautiful kitchens. If they entertain, they hire a caterer who brings the cooked food to the kitchen to serve it…their beautiful manicured gardens are enjoyed by…the birds and squirrels. Not even by possible foot traffic because there are fences and bushes blocking the view. The children? They’re not at home either, or in the garden. They’re at boarding school somewhere far away…

    Me = cynic.

    But yes, it makes you think, doesn’t it. By 2:30 in the afternoon I’ve spent $2.38 at the Dollar Store on card stock to make homemade Valentine cards with the kids.

    (Yes I feel blah. When is spring coming?)

  2. woo, that’s a fast buck!
