A New Blogging Conference is Coming to Ottawa! #BConnectedConf

And we know how much I love to go to blogging conferences (aka “School for Bloggers“)!!!

Some good friends of mine kicked off a great social media conference in Ottawa in 2011 called Social Capital Conference. Naturally, I attended it and I’m happy to see it still running and growing in numbers each year.

This new conference is called BConnected and its focus is specifically on parent bloggers. As far as I’m aware, these are the only two blogging-related conferences held in Ottawa.

For BConnected, April 12-13, 2014 will represent its inaugural year and here’s a blurb from the site (bolding is my own):

“The BConnected Conference is Canada’s first social media and networking conference targeting mom and dad bloggers; however it is open to any bloggers looking to enhance their social media and blogging skills. Attendees will also be able to connect with industry leaders and leading brands that are geared towards families. You’ll also be able to obtain hands-on and useful information to enhance your social media skills. Finally, bloggers will have the opportunity to connect with fellow bloggers to further their networking communities!”

I would add that even if you’re not (yet) a blogger, but have an interest in starting, that this conference will help kickstart your journey in a very positive way! Here’s what other bloggers are saying about BConnected:

Oh, and one last thing … I’m going to be the MC for this event!!

I am absolutely thrilled (and do I admit, a little bit nervous?) to be invited to take on this role. More than anything though, I am excited to be able to welcome my blogging community to a fun, productive, and high-energy weekend in our Nation’s Capital! The organizers have been working really hard to make this conference absolutely amazing (you can check out the program here) … I hope I will get to see you there!

p.s. Those bloggers’ posts in the bullets above? If you visit them, you’ll see that they are holding a contest to WIN a 2-DAY PASS to the BConnected Conference. So — go! Enter!

  1. I am SO looking forward to seeing you at the BConnected Conference, Julie, and listening to you “run the show”. I know you will be awesome :)

  2. I’ve been hmming and hawing about that conference, but that’s probably more a reflection of my blogging in general these days *g*. It looks great and it’s very tempting

  3. great to have you on board!

  4. You’ll be awesome. I love the idea of a conference in Ottawa, but I’m so conflicted on what I’m doing with my blog right now I don’t know that I can justify the expense. What a great excuse to see people I don’t see enough, though.

    • I know … it’s THE PEOPLE! So fun to connect and share with other bloggers!

As for your blog: what’s the conflict? I love reading whatever you feel like writing about. In fact, right now, I am starting the book The Imperfectionists because you blogged about it :)

      • REALLY? That’s cool. The conflict is just that I’m so very very bad at marketing, branding, SEO optimization or anything that might indicate I’m trying to be successful. It’s like I don’t WANT people to find my blog. And conferences so far, even though I’ve had a great time, haven’t really done anything to make me feel like I can change. So I probably have to get a real job to justify spending money on my blog, which is clearly just a hobby. But thanks. :)
