Most Awesome Mother’s Day Present! (Ottawa giveaway)

EDITED TO ADD: I used random.org and as the universe of random dictated the winner of this most awesome mother’s day prize pack is Shakira Whitton! CONGRATS SHAKIRA — I will be in touch with the details for how to use your prize! :)

Quick! You seriously don’t want to miss this giveaway! And I will give it out just in time for Mother’s Day so you can give your mother, your wife – or, heck, just yourself (I won’t tell!) – a fantastic present.

The highlight is attending the opening night of an innovative performance titled i think i can, which is described like so:

Using the rhythms of tap, hip hop and percussive sound, i think i can is about a physically-challenged young man who overcomes the bullying and aggression of his peers through the beauty of physics and a fanciful project in a science fair.

Worth approximately $250, this giveaway is a complete night out in Ottawa on Friday, May 13th, courtesy of Coffee with Julie‘s most awesome sponsor Canada’s National Arts Centre, and includes:

  • $100 gift certificate to spend on Chef Blackie’s seriously delicious food at Le Cafe
  • Two tickets to the May 13th opening night performance of “i think i can” at the National Arts Centre
  • An invitation for two to the NAC’s opening night post-show party on May 13th

To enter: take a look at the NAC’s 2011-2012 subscription packages and tell me in the comments which package looks the most interesting to you.

A winner will be selected randomly from all the comments using random.org. Only one entry per person please! And please make sure you’re available on the evening of May 13th! Draw will take place this Friday May 6th at 10 am.

Comments

  1. The dance series would be the ultimate. Love to dance, although I can’t. Love to watch dance. Hard choice between the Ballet and the Contemporary series. Anyone would be awesome. Would love to win the tickets as I know someone in the production.

  2. Without a doubt, the Broadway package looks most interesting. I have always been a fan of theatre and in fact have my family room decorated with dry mounted posters from the various Broadway shows we have been lucky enough to see here in Ottawa, as well as Toronto and New York.

  3. Both the Dance and Broadway subscription series look fantastic. I love the triple threat aspect of Broadway productions. As far as dance goes, I think the ballet series would be more up my alley if I had to choose between ballet and contemporary.

My mom and I used to do the Dance series together as a mother/daughter thing when I was growing up.

    Fab giveaway!

  4. Taylor says:

I would have to say a cross between the dance and the Lion King on broadway. I know my mom would love to see either, she is a huge theatre fan! This is a great giveaway, and a lovely gift for mothers.

The dances look amazing, so much effort put in. And great talent! The broadway will be amazing as well.

  5. Without a doubt it would have to be the Broadway shows. I have seen most everything that comes to Ottawa and I always think about going to NYC to see them there too :-) Thanks for the opportunity!

  6. Pamela Sharpe-Dovbniak says:

My choice would be the English Theatre Series. I live the fact that they bring family oriented productions. I love to bring my daughters to the NAC and expose them to the many riches of the Arts. Thank you for chance!

  7. The Broadway series package would be amazing!!
    Thanks for the contest.

  8. I think the Broadway series would interest me the most :)

  9. Stephanie Wolff says:

The Broadway series interests me the most.

  10. I always (pre-kids) used to have a subscription to contemporary dance. It’s bee a while but I would love to have one again!

  11. Natalie says:

Hi Julie! Love you giveaways :) My pick would be a tossup from the Orchestra Series between the Ovation package and the Kinder Music. Would I want to go just with hubby or as whole family? Hmmmm.

  12. I would have to say the Broadway series too!

  13. I’d pick English Theatre! Before kids, we had a subscription & loved it. We’ll do it again once homework, carpooling & babysitters aren’t such permanent factors. Thanks for the opportunity!

  14. As a theatre geek, I feel torn. I’d love to say English Theatre, but since I’m also the hair-and-teeth behind the Show Tune Showdown and there won’t be one in 2012, I think I have to say B’way Across Canada.

  15. I love live theatre and the English Theatre package makes my heart beat faster! It’s so exciting to sit on the edge of my seat and watch a story unfold. I love it. The lineup this year looks awesome a mix of stories I know and ones that would be entirely new to me.

  16. we’ve subscribed to Family Adventures for 2 yrs. looking forward to trying family theatre

  17. Claudia Petrilli says:

Definitely an awesome mother’s day present. Hope I win it :)

  18. Rebecca Ross says:

The orchestra series looks amazing. Especially the Russian Festival Series. And the Lion King! (I’m already going and so excited!)

  19. Mikypea says:

    Contemporary dance is my thing!

  20. I have been eying the Broadway Series since it was first published. You know how sometimes there is a package and you would like to see 1 or 2 of the 3 shows? Well, this year, I would LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to see ALL 3!
Lion King, Blue Man Group and West Side Story would make my year :)

  21. I would dearly love to see the Carmina Burana performed – I took part in a performance of it when I was a teenager. It’s part of the Bostonian Bravo Series.
